At New York Comic Con, the assistant director, producer, and CGI producer of the film gathered to discuss their ambitious project. "For us, it was crucial to capture the essence of the source material while adapting it for a theatrical release," shared Masato Nakazono, the assistant director. "We wanted to highlight the vibrant and colorful world of Chainsaw Man, especially Makima's iconic hair, to make it pop on the big screen."
One of the biggest challenges they faced was adapting the manga's dialogue-free panels. Nakazono explained, "We had to create dialogue that would resonate with the audience, especially for the intimate relationship between Reze and Denji. Manabu Otsuka, the supervising producer, revealed that the team chose to partner with Sony for international distribution to tell the next story arc on the big screen, rather than on TV. "We wanted to create a standalone film experience for Chainsaw Man fans, and we believed Sony's distribution network would help us achieve that."
