Should I worry if my Cologuard came back positive? ›
Abnormal result (positive result) suggests that the test found some pre-cancer or cancer cells in your stool sample. However, the Cologuard test does not diagnose cancer. You will need further tests to make a diagnosis of cancer. Your provider will likely suggest a colonoscopy.
How long did it take you to get cologuard results? ›
Cologuard looks for both DNA and blood in your stool and can detect both precancer and cancer. After you return your test kit, you will receive either a negative or positive result within 2 weeks.

What foods can cause a false positive Cologuard test? ›
Because this test is very sensitive, your doctor might ask you to stop eating foods that contain heme while preparing for testing to avoid a false positive. This might mean eliminating red meat, poultry, seafood, turnips, horseradish, and citrus fruits and juices for a time.
Is cologuard the same as a colonoscopy? ›
The Cologuard test is designed to detect cancer not prevent it. Cologuard can only detect 42% of large polyps, while a colonoscopy can detect 95% of large polyps. When polyps are detected during a colonoscopy they are removed at the same time.
How much does Cologuard cost? The cost of Cologuard is around $500-600. Part of that cost may be covered by some insurances depending on your plan, co-pay, and deductible. Diagnostic testing is subject to deductibles and coinsurance.
