Getting Started (Vinery) (2024)

Vinery is a mod for creating fermented drinks that give potion effects for a shorter amount of time than a normal potion.

The authors of this guide strongly recommend installing JEI or another mod which allows you to see recipes; this mod has tight integration with these recipe-viewing mods.

Getting Grapejuice[]

Grapes are a prerequisite for creating most drinks from the mod. Grapes can spawn in the wild, or you can purchase them from a Wandering Winemaker who appears from time to time.

Once you have grapes, eat one to obtain a Grape Seed. You will need to create a farm in order to have a reliable supply of Grapes, so plant the Grape Seed. If you only had one Grape, wait for the Grapes you planted to grow, then harvest them and repeat until you have about 5.

The Grapevine Pot is a block which allows you to create Grapejuice from Grapes. Place the Pot and insert some Grapes by right-clicking. Jump on top of the filled Grapevine Pot until there are no visible Grape chunks, then collect the juice by right-clicking the Pot with a Wine Bottle.

Tangent: Drinks that do not require Grapes[]

Not all drinks in this mod require grapes; notably, Cider, Mead, and Apple Wine. If you are having trouble obtaining Grapes for some reason, feel free to skip to the next section if you have some of the ingredients for the drinks listed above.

Fermenting[]

Fermenting ingredients is the only way of creating the drinks in this mod. To ferment, you will need an Aging Barrel along with the ingredients for your desired drink. For this tutorial, we will walk you through creating Eiswein, which can instantly heal the player to maximum health. For this recipe, you will need a Snowball and White Taiga Grapejuice.

Place your Aging Barrel if you have not already. Insert the bottle of Grapejuice into the upper-leftmost slot, and place a Snowball immediately to the right of the slot. Place one Wine Bottle in the lowest slot. After a few seconds, a bottle of Eiswein will be provided on the right.

Aging[]

Drinks can be aged to increase their effects. Simply store it in a Chest[note 1] and wait about 20 days of in-game time. The drink should have an increased longevity of the effect.

Recipes[]

These recipes were pulled from a Google Doc with permission from the author. It is like a regularly updated blog.

*They remark that not all of the effects have been tested, so the effects are more of a guide.
